Singapore’s 60th birthday celebration stepped off in spectacular style with the “Peace and Prosperity Singapura (PPSG) SG60 Walkathon 2025,” drawing around 2,000 participants in a powerful display of unity, culture, and national pride. Held on Sunday, the event also marked the 10th anniversary of Tao One Care Ltd, the organising body behind this commemorative walk.

Guest of Honour Madam Halimah Yacob, former President of Singapore and current Chancellor of the Singapore University of Social Sciences, lauded the walkathon’s spirit of togetherness. She emphasized its role in fostering social cohesion as the nation reflects on six decades of progress and peace.

Kicking off at Hong Lim Green and ending at Marina Barrage, the 5km route took walkers through Singapore’s historical and modern landmarks—Chinatown, the Central Business District, Merlion Park, and Gardens by the Bay—symbolising the nation’s journey from port town to global metropolis.

One of the event’s most striking highlights was the display of 60 giant flags—each 9 metres tall and inscribed with Chinese blessing phrases. Carried by over 50 individuals and community groups, the stunning visual earned a spot in the Singapore Book of Records for the “Largest Flag Display in Singapore.”

Adding rhythm to the celebration were live Kompang and Indian drum performances, underscoring the nation’s multicultural roots. Participants also received souvenir packs to commemorate their part in the milestone event.

Dignitaries including Mr Dinesh Vasu Dash, Minister of State for the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and the Ministry of Manpower, and Mr Lee Hong Chuang, MP and Advisor to the Jurong East-Bukit Batok Grassroots Organisation, were present to support and celebrate the occasion.

The event was organised by Tao One Care Ltd, in collaboration with the Singapore Wushu and Dragon Lion Dance Federation, International Long Shi Trading Hub, and Jack Neo’s PaPaZao. It was supported by Harmony Circle of Sembawang GRC, Scam Public Education Office (SPEO), M3@Jurong, PPIS, and the Singapore Hadrah and Kompang Association (PEHAKS).
