Centara Hotels & Resorts is reinforcing its commitment to sustainability across its four properties in the Maldives: Centara Grand Lagoon Maldives, Centara Mirage Lagoon Maldives, Centara Ras Fushi Maldives, and Machchafushi Island Resort & Spa Maldives, The Centara Collection. Each resort has taken several steps to protect marine ecosystems and promote environmental awareness, aligning with the global observances of World Environment Day and World Ocean Day.
At Centara Grand Lagoon Maldives and Centara Mirage Lagoon Maldives, both located within The Atollia by Centara Hotels and Resorts, tree planting initiatives on World Environment Day demonstrated the properties’ ongoing efforts to promote environmental responsibility. Young travellers also engaged in arts and crafts using recyclable materials as part of the World Environment Day celebrations. On World Ocean Day, guests participated in coral planting sessions and awareness talks led by a marine biologist. Young travellers enjoyed more hands-on sustainability activities, including ocean-themed arts and crafts. A snorkelling experience was also organised to commemorate World Ocean Day, allowing guests to explore the reef and learn about marine conservation efforts firsthand.
Centara Ras Fushi Maldives, a dedicated adults-only resort, marked World Environment Day with tree planting, lagoon clean-ups, and guided sustainability tours designed to educate guests on local environmental challenges and solutions. On World Ocean Day, the resort organised coral planting activities to support reef regeneration efforts, creating awareness of the importance of marine ecosystems among couples, honeymooners, and empty nesters.
Machchafushi Island Resort & Spa, The Centara Collection, a resort recognised and awarded for having one of the Maldives’ best house reefs, celebrated World Ocean Day with coral planting efforts, reinforcing its leadership in marine conservation.
These efforts align with Centara’s ongoing commitment to sustainability in the Maldives. By integrating conservation practices into the guest experience, all four resorts are contributing to long-term environmental preservation in the region.
