International airlines, such as Lufthansa, Emirates, and Air France-KLM, have also altered their flight paths or canceled routes to circumvent the airspaces of Israel, Iran, Jordan, and Iraq during the conflict. In a statement released on Friday, Russia’s civil aviation authority, Rosaviatsia, announced that it had lifted the ban on flights over Iran, Iraq, and Jordan after conducting a “continuous analysis” of the risks associated with civil aviation flights in the region.
First post-war flight from Iran, the Mahan Air flight originated from the northeastern city of Mashhad, has landed at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport today.
The Russian national flag carrier, Aeroflot, has also recommenced the sale of tickets to Tehran, with the first post-ban flight scheduled for July 4. This route will operate three times weekly.
On June 13, Israel launched a series of airstrikes aimed at Iranian military and nuclear research installations, along with high-ranking commanders and nuclear scientists, in an effort to thwart Tehran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons.
Iran denounced these actions as ‘unprovoked assaults’ and responded by launching ballistic missiles and kamikaze drones targeting Israeli urban areas.
A ceasefire, facilitated by the United States, has been established and has thus far been maintained, with both parties claiming their respective victories.
