Delta Adds a New Flight to Kona, Hawaii

The beaches of Hawaii are calling to you this winter, with extra flights to the islands on the way.

Delta Airlines announced new and expanded routes to Hawaii that will run during the winter months. Beginning December 19 and running through March 28, a new nonstop service from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) to Kona International Airport (KOA) will start.

Service between Salt Lake City and Kahului Airport (OGG) in Maui will also begin earlier than usual, on October 6, and will run four times a week until expanding to a daily service in November. A second daily flight will be added for the holiday season between December 19 and January 5, as well as a second daily flight between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) in Honolulu for the same period.

The route between Atlanta (ATL) and Maui (OGG) will also return earlier than usual on November 6. Flights between Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) and Honolulu (HNL) will continue to run year-round, but with upgraded aircraft between November 6 and March 28.

“We’re excited to strengthen Delta’s network to Hawaii this winter with the addition of new and expanded service, including our new route between Salt Lake City and Kona,” a Delta spokesperson said in a statement to T+L. “With a 10% increase in seats compared to last year, we’re giving customers more ways to enjoy the Hawaiian Islands during the holiday season — whether they’re returning to a favorite island or discovering a new one for the first time.”

Kona was named a «can’t miss» by T+L, as it’s one of the only places in the world you can do a night snorkel and get close to manta rays.
