This post is part of our travels from Singapore to Brisbane (via Bali with Jetstar – $425 per person) and returning via a stopover in Bali (Brisbane to Bali via Jetstar – $300 per person). The last leg from Bali to Singapore was via KLM at a surprisingly affordable price of $79. This made the return flight from Singapore to Brisbane a rather affordable total of $800 SGD.
Yesterday, we spent the 2nd of half of day 1 traveling from Singapore to Bali and from Bali to Brisbane. On day 2, we finally arrived in Brisbane at 6am in the morning. Upon arrival, we followed the signs to do declarations for arrival via a machine (we saw that the Singapore flag was listed as one of the countries here). A small print out will be given and you’ll just have to follow the signs for verification of the tickets and you’re through. Passport was not stamped. Thereafter, we headed over to the quarantine and health officer – handing over the ticket as well as the health declaration form that we had filled out on the plane prior to arrival.
Brisbane Travel Day 2 Itinerary
Arriving at Brisbane International Airport

As it was still early, we headed to level 4, Corretto Cafe Bar which is located on the landside. It is part of the Priority Pass list of restaurants to visit at Brisbane Airport and we were given a credit of $36AUD per person. Do note that the prices listed on the menu are already inclusive of tax. Hence, with 2 of us, we were allowed up to $72AUD of credits for breakfast this morning.
This morning, we ordered the Corretto Full Breakfast with Avocado ($27 + $4) and the Eggs Benny with Smoked Salmon ($20 + $5). For drinks and sides, we ordered a large flat white ($6.9) and a chocolate croissant ($8.8). The total came up to $71.8, just within the $72AUD credit given. From the seating area, we were able to see that the kitchen was quite big and food was prepared rather promptly. As you can see from the photos above, the presentation of the food was beautifully laid out. The addition of the avocados also spruced up the breakfast set. In terms of the taste of the food, we thought that the bacon and chorizo were actually quite salty. The pastries on the other hand were good. Loved the crisp texture of the sour dough bread as well as the layers of the croissant. Water is self-served here.
Brisbane Airtrain from Brisbane Airport to Brisbane City

From Brisbane Airport, there is a Airtrain service that takes you from Brisbane Airport ot Brisbane City. The station is located at level 3. Hence, we came down from level 4 (where Corretto was) to level 3 towards the International Station for Airtrain…

We reached the Brisbane Airport Airtrain International Station at 8:08am and we had just missed the previous train. Thankfully, the Airtrain runs every 15 minutes till 1038am in the mornings. At the train station, our e-tickets were scanned and we headed to platform 1 to await out airtrain from Brisbane Airport to Brisbane City (which costs us $10.95 per person). The Airtrain ride from Brisbane Airport (International Station) to Brisbane City (Central Station) took about 20 minutes.
Upon arrival, we exited via the gantry manned by the staff. We then sought help from the Customer Service officer who pointed us in the direction to head towards (Elizabeth Street) to reach our first hotel in Brisbane, Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street!
Checking in at Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth

We arrived at Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street at 9am and we were so thankful that we were able to check-in this morning! This was despite hearing that the staff had told the previous guy that he would only be able to check-in at 2pm at the earliest. Thank the Lord! We were also upgraded to the river view deluxe room with a great view of the Brisbane River and the Wheel of Brisbane! We were even able to see the Brisbane Sign from our room if you observed closely. The 4 continuous floor-to-ceiling windows that faced the Brisbane River, gave us some pretty spectacular panoramic views. 😄
Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street is also convenient located. Right next door, we were able to get some sunscreen ($20), Hazy IPAs ($15) from Coles as well as BWS (Beers Wines Spirits). After resting in the room for a bit (afterall, we had travelled for more than half the day now), we went to the level 1 in-house restaurant for our welcome drinks at Ibis Styles Brisbane…

Known as the The Social Restaurant and Bar, the in-house restaurant of Ibis Styles Brisbane is also where you’ll find the daily breakfast being served. From the bar, we were able to select from a list of beers, wines, hot drinks and soft drinks as our welcome drinks due to our Accor Gold benefits. Tom had the Furphy Ale which was really refreshing while Kate had the Sauvignon Blanc which was smooth to taste. The restaurant was modern and had a nice ambience to it. We also checked out that the breakfast would cost $30 but because of our Accor Plus membership, there would be a 50% discount at $15 instead.
Checking out the sights and sounds in Brisbane City

After a quick shopping trip to Queen Street Mall (Portsman, Seafolly etc.), we walked along the Bicentennial Bikeway to Milton for our first stop at XXXX (pronounced as “Fourex”). This walk along the Bicentennial Bikeway offered scenic views along the Brisbane River as well. After crossing an underpass, we reached XXXX at about 2:40pm this afternoon…
XXXX Ale House & Brewery Brisbane (Pronounced as “Fourex”)

At the entrance of XXXX Ale House & Brewery Brisbane, you’ll find a huge red vintage truck. A great spot for a first photo here at XXXX. We then headed on up to level 2 where the pub and restaurant were. There weren’t that many visitors at this time, just a couple of guests, retirees and a group of seemingly employees, who were having their privilege of drinks at the bar. Probably some kind of daily entitlement we’re guessing? Free drinks after work each day, sounds like a pretty good deal!
For our drinks, we ordered an XXXX Ultra and XXXX Bitter (for a total of $18.5). Both of us thought that the Bitter had an excellent aftertaste that we enjoyed. For food, we ordered a Wagyu Burger for $22. The burger came with beer battered fries which was very crisp and the patty had the rich beefy flavours. Surprisingly, the pickle was sweet and Kate could take this pickle which she usually “pick-out”. 😁

Also, there’s complimentary pool for guests where we played a couple of games. We left at about 4pm, after chilling out at XXXX Ale House.
@2bearbeartravel Visited #XXXX #Brewery and #Alehouse in #Brisbane. Found the premise to be casual with staff chilling out after work, catching up over games at the #pooltable. Strolling and Cruising along Brisbane River with Views of Story Bridge

Walking back, we took the same path along the Bicentennial Bikeway from Milton back to Brisbane CBD. This evening, we wanted to head to Riverbar to see Story Bridge as the lights came on at night. Unfortunately, when we reached at 5:30pm this time on a Friday evening, the seats with great views were already taken! How early do Aussies knock off on Fridays?! 😭 😭 😭
Thankfully, there was still the City Hopper – a free ferry ride along the Brisbane River. Yes, free even for tourists as well! We took full advantage and took the City Hopper ferry from Riverside to Sydney Street, all the way back to North Quay. Along the way, we enjoyed beautiful views of Brisbane City and even passed underneath Story Bridge. The views were spectacular…

A little bit about Story Bridge. In the late 1800s, there was already a bridge that linked North and South Brisbane via Victoria. However, calls for a 2nd bridge came to really connect Brisbane CBD to Kangaroo Point. Story Bridge took about 5 years to build from 1935 to 1940 and it was actually named after one of its main advocators John Douglas Story – not that the bridge actually had a “story” to tell.

After alighting at North Quay stop, it was a short walk back to Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street. We reached back at about 730pm this evening and watched HGTV while having Cobs popcorn (the best!) and IPA beer for the evening. Stay tuned for Day 3 of our travels in Brisbane!
