Deluxe Corner Room King Bed with River View!

During our recent visit to Brisbane, we stayed at Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street. If you have an idea about Ibis Styles, you’d know that it is a budget brand under the Accor family. Hence, despite having the Accor Gold with benefits of complimentary upgrade, we didn’t think much of how far the upgrade would bring us. This time, we booked the Standard Room (1 King Bed) for $117 SGD per night and it landed us in the Deluxe Corner Room (1 King Bed) with River View! Needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised!

@2bearbeartravel Amazing stay at #Ibis Styles #Brisbane Elizabeth Street with a complimentary upgrade via #Accor to the deluxe corner room. Great location and surprisingly good quality breakfast as well. Loved the poached eggs, fresh fruits and variety! 😊👍 #ibisstyles #hotel #room #accorplus #australia #travel #traveltiktok #travellife #traveltok #travelblog #travelblogger @visitbrisbane #visitbrisbane ♬ Good Energy – Jeppe Reil

Why We Chose Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street

There were several reasons why we chose Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street.

Firstly, the location.

As you can see from the map, Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street is convenient located in the heart of Brisbane. Right in the middle of all the buzz and just minutes by foot to Queen Street Mall – Brisbane’s most iconic shopping street.

Queen Street Mall Brisbane

Within walking distance, you’ll find attractions such as the Star – a new luxury development with a hotel, bars, restaurants and the Sky Deck with amazing views of the Brisbane skyline from its rooftop. Free at the moment…

@2bearbeartravel The #skydeck at #thestar #brisbane is currently free. We visited it twice. Once in the morning and there was not much wait for the lifts up to level 23. However in the evenings, it was crowded. Both going up and down required some queuing. There are cafes, bars and restaurants up here to chill and enjoy the expansive views over #Southbank. Enjoy! ☺️👍 #attractions #visitbrisbane #2bearbear #travel #traveltiktok #travellife #traveltok #traveling #travelblog #travelblogger ♬ I Got It – thuy

Crossing the Brisbane River via the new Neville Bonner Bridge, you’ll also arrive at attractions such as the Brisbane Sign, Queensland Museum and South Bank, where you’ll find the Streets Beach – an urban beach on a lagoon built right into the city!

The location also meant that Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street was just a short 10 minutes walk from the Central Train Station. Convenient for travelers like us who use the public transport to get around.

Secondly, the price. As mentioned earlier, we got a room at $117 SGD per night in an area where the average room prices were about $200 SGD. That said, the third reason is because of our Accor Gold membership, which not only allowed us to accrue points, receive welcome drinks but also have the possibility of having an upgrade (subject to availability). This time, we were thankfully upgraded to the Deluxe Corner Room which affords amazing views over the Brisbane River!

As we approached our room, we noticed that we were located at the corner – the last room. However, as we didn’t check out the available rooms, we were pleasantly surprised by the setup of the room with 2 full glass panels (floor to ceiling) at the corner of the room, revealing views to the streets below and most importantly, to Brisbane River nearby!

From our room, we were able to see the Brisbane River, the Brisbane Sign as well as the Wheel of Brisbane – the iconic observatory ferris wheel at South Bank. In the mornings and evenings, we were also able to clearly see joggers and cyclists enjoying their jogs and cycles down the paths next to the Brisbane River. The city lights also come on in the evenings, offering a different city scape as we chill out in our room to wind down. Thankful to Ibis Styles Brisbane for this amazing upgrade!

Inside, the room was well-equipped. The bathroom had amenities such as towels and shampoo. The shower also had good pressure with hot water that came on readily. The room is also relatively spacious with a good ~5 metres of walking length which allowed Tom to do some pushups in the room during his workout times. To save space, the TV is hung at the corner of the room which was great for watching TV in bed and it came with cable channels and complimentary movies, providing entertainment in the evenings. Coffee/tea amenities, water (in carton) as well as fridge and iron facilities, round up the offerings in the room.

We also noticed that we were given a mid-level room, instead of a room at higher levels. This meant that we also felt “nearer” to the Brisbane River views, instead of “overlooking” it. Excellent choice! Thanks once again for the arrangements Ibis Brisbane! 🙂

Welcome Drinks at The Social Restaurant and Bar Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street

As mentioned, Ibis Styles is a budget brand of the Accor Family. Therefore, besides the gym at level 2, the other hang out area would be the Social Restaurant and Bar at level 1. This was also where we got our welcome drinks at Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street…

As with some Accor hotels, there is a welcome drinks menu which includes drinks such as

– XXXXGold (pronounced as “Four-ex”)
– Furphy
– Hahn
– Shiraz
– Brut
– Sauvignon Blanc
– Chardonnay
– Moscato
– Soft Drinks
– Tea
– Coffee

The offerings included beers, wines, soft drinks and coffee/tea. This time, we chose the Furphy Ale which was really refreshing with a delicate hoppy after taste. As for the Sauvignon Blanc, it was smooth to taste.

Buffet Breakfast at The Social Restaurant and Bar Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street

As our room didn’t come with breakfast, we purchased on one of the mornings just to see the breakfast buffet offerings of Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street’s The Social Restaurant & Bar. The usual price of breakfasts at Ibis Styles Brisbane was $30 AUD. However, as members of AccorPlus, we were given a 50% discount which was pretty good. Here’s what we had at Ibis Styles Brisbane’s buffet breakfast

As for the options available on the buffet breakfast at Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street, we must say that it was limited. But it was more than made up by quality of the offerings. For instance, the poached egg had runny egg yolks – better than that of some restaurants with non-runny ones. The fruits were also REALLY sweet and juicy! We wolfed down several honeydew and honey melon pieces as well! Lastly, the sausages (which we normally don’t pick out because they’re usually so tasty) and the pastries (which can be the ready-made ones in certain breakfast buffets) were actually pretty good. An excellent breakfast overall!

Overall, we totally enjoyed our stay at Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street! The upgrade to the Deluxe Corner King Bed with views over Brisbane River definitely enhanced our overall experience. With the views out to major Brisbane attractions in the mornings and evenings right from our bed, we felt we were transported right into the heart of Brisbane city. Of course, the welcome drinks and great quality buffet breakfast at The Social Restaurant & Bar of Ibis Styles Brisbane, certainly made our stay that much more comfortable!
