COLOURS OF OBLU Resorts Partner With Top Pizza Chef Marco Piccini For Unique Atoll Roadshow

Complimenting the distinctive vibrancy of the OBLU guest experience, the resorts which are part of Atmosphere Core, announce their forthcoming partnership with Italy’s renowned pizza Chef Marco Piccini. Between 22nd September and 3rd October Chef Marco will share his unique style of tradition and craft with pop-up pizza dining and more.
Chef Marco the CEO of ‘Mako Pizza’, is more than a pizza maker, he is a private chef specialising in live show cooking and catering for exclusive events. Known for crafting bespoke culinary experiences using organic dough, long fermentation, and premium flours, each event Chef Marco curates becomes a unique performance, blending flavour, artistry, and storytelling.
Introducing Chef Marco to the Maldives for the first time, Atmosphere Core’s Vice President of Food & Beverage Anupam Banerjee stated, “Our team is always on the lookout for artisanal culinary experiences that entertain as much as they please the palette. What distinguishes Chef Marco is his dedication to the origins and quality of every ingredient as he shares the history of his country’s national dish, emphasising that great pizza begins with the dough.
“On a whirlwind tour of North Male’ Atoll, Chef Marco will deliver a unique series of pop-up pizza dining and speciality Chef’s Menu concepts starting at OBLU NATURE Helengeli, then onto OBLU SELECT Sangeli, before concluding the at the romantic couples only OBLU SELECT Lobigili. With our continuous drive to offer authentic, elevated food and beverage experiences, we are delighted to welcome Chef Marco to our properties. During his visit, he will work closely with our culinary team, offering them a unique opportunity to learn the art of making traditional pizzas — the proper way. Chef Marco will also host interactive sessions with our guests, guiding them through the craft of creating handcrafted pizzas from scratch”.
Raised in Sovigliana-Vinci, with roots in Grosseto and Empoli, Chef Marco developed a passion for cooking from his mother, Mara. He studied culinary arts at the Enriques Institute in Castelfiorentino, gaining hands-on experience in renowned restaurants such as Borgo Allegro, Castelfalfi resort, and Milan’s Michelin-starred JOIA.
In 2019, his collaboration with chef Fabrizio Marino, another legendary Italian chef who collaborates with Atmosphere Core, led to the creation of Pizza Del Popolo, San Miniato’s first vegetarian bakery-pizzeria, dedicated to organic, locally sourced ingredients and authentic regional flavours.
Chef Marco concluded, “As a passion from the soul, pizza is more a culinary art form to me than a practical process. Having presented showcases across Europe, the Maldives is set to add a new level of unique destination and experience to my events. I look forward to sharing tips on pizza preparation and baking with the guests and resort kitchen teams, and working from island chef to chef, also pick up a few insights about their own personal specialities and the local cuisine”.
