Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives) successfully hosted the inaugural Tourism Industry Insights Workshop with the CEO of E-Tourism Frontiers and Consultant to Visit Maldives, Ms Sarah Mathews, on 20th April, 2024. The main objective of this workshop was to provide the latest updates of the ongoing tourism industry landscape, including key insights into current market trends and developments.

The Tourism Industry Insights Workshop featured several insightful presentations. The MMPRC marketing team delivered the Global Market Intelligence session, providing an overview of the top 10 key markets: the UK, Russia, China, Italy, Germany, Middle East, Switzerland, India, USA, and France. Ms. Sarah Mathews, CEO of E-Tourism Frontiers and Consultant to Visit Maldives, then led a series of sessions focusing on critical aspects of the evolving tourism landscape. These included the Digital Revolution in Travel, understanding Global Travel Trends and how to adapt to changing consumer behavior, strategies for Developing Your Key Audience, gaining a deeper Understanding of Maldives as a destination, exploring Destination Organisation Trends and the shifting behaviour in marketing, and effective approaches for Attracting the Next Generation of travellers. 

The workshop concluded with closing remarks from the Chairperson of the MMPRC’s Board of Directors, Mr Abdulla Ghiyaz Riyaz, who outlined, “This workshop is part of a broader shift we are leading at Visit Maldives towards a more data-driven, inclusive, and forward-thinking approach to how we promote our destination. Our goal is clear; to not only adapt to change but to lead it.”

The Tourism Industry Insights Workshop successfully served as a platform to share key destination market insights, celebrating achievements and aligning industry experts with upcoming initiatives anticipated to shape the future of tourism in the Maldives. Visit Maldives aimed to share the latest travel insights to our travel and tourism professionals, relevant government bodies, and regulatory authorities- equipping industry stakeholders with a better understanding of the future travel landscape by exploring market intelligence, emerging global trends, and strategies for engaging future travellers.

Moreover, this tourism industry workshop included networking opportunities, collaborations and discussions, creating a space for industry stakeholders to exchange ideas and explore avenues for collaboration that support mutual growth and national objectives.

Visit Maldives is committed to working closely with industry stakeholders to achieve key targets in tourism and to supporting the Maldives tourism industry through more initiatives like this workshop.
