The Green Room 

A beloved local gem bursting with character, The Green Room is where good vibes and great food meet. From fresh seafood and mouthwatering Mexican bites to juicy burgers and delicious specials, there’s something for every craving. It’s also the home of Tacos Tequila Techno Parties, the Kommetjie Food Market, quiz nights, and a lineup of local food and music festivities that keep the good times rolling.

Kommetjie Fish and Chips 

Kommetjie Fish and Chips is a short walk from The Green Room. True to its name, this laid-back spot serves some of the freshest fish and chips in town, along with a variety of other seafood options. Grab a seat at one of the outdoor tables and enjoy a relaxed, no-fuss meal just steps from the ocean.

Cone Collection 

Right in the same building as Kommetjie Fish and Chips is The Cone Collection, a sweet little spot serving up scoops of creamy goodness. You’ll find all sorts of fun flavours like s’mores, bubblegum and chocolate, plus a few refreshing sorbets if you’re after something lighter. If you have a sweet tooth, you should try their milkshake or waffle options.

Good Riddance 

Good Riddance Café is one of Kommetjie’s best-kept secrets. With its cosy corners, eclectic décor and feel-good playlist, the vibe is effortlessly chilled and guaranteed to lift your mood. The menu is a delicious mix of toasted sarmies, smoothie bowls, flaky pastries and savoury bites. There’s plenty of plant-based options too. Pair your pick with a piping hot coffee, fresh juice, or one of their unique drink blends.

Fisherman’s Garden 

Sit under the shade of ancient Milkwood trees at The Fisherman’s Garden. 

Enjoy ice-cold beer on tap, craft beers, weekend afternoon live music sessions and, on Sundays, their legendary Mozambican braais. During winter, experience an intimate setting inside with a roasting fire, and lingering aromas of wood-fired pizzas, burgers, steaks and seafood. 

The family-friendly restaurant offers plenty of space for the kids to socialise and play.

See and Do 

Long Beach 

Kommetjie’s crown jewel is undoubtedly Long Beach, a stretch of powdery white sand and rolling waves that attracts surfers from around the globe. Whether you’re paddling out for your first lesson or chasing barrels, Long Beach offers some of the most consistent breaks in the region. It’s also a popular spot for dog walkers, horseback riders and beachcombers soaking in the natural beauty.

Imhoff Farm 

Imhoff Farm is an adventure wonderland and ideal for all ages. Go on a horseriding adventure at Imhoff Equestrian Centre, enjoy organic meals at the restaurant overlooking Long Beach, let the kids meet new friends at the Farmyard, sample some wines, or browse the various vendors at the store. You’re bound to have hours of fun here. Their restaurant Blue Water Cafe showcases some of the area’s most dramatic views.

Slangkop Lighthouse 

Overlooking the coastline is the Slangkop Lighthouse, the tallest cast-iron lighthouse in South Africa. Standing sentinel since 1919, it adds a touch of nautical history and makes for fantastic photos, especially at golden hour. We recommend taking a stroll through the boardwalk trail for some fantastic views of the lighthouse and the lagoon.

Deep South Distillery 

Deep South Distillery is all about small-batch, hand-crafted spirits, and this tasting is unlike any other you’ve tried. Here, you’ll be encouraged to “taste through the layers” of gin, exploring how different ingredients (even ice!) can completely change the taste and aromas of your gin cocktails. 

The experience includes a complimentary distillery tour, so you can see how their magic happens behind the scenes. The tastings are only available on Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 4:30pm (the last tour at 3:30pm). Weekday tastings are by appointment.
