If you are interested in seeing a baseball game in New York, there is no better choice than going to a Yankees game! There is probably nothing more American than cheering on this storied team along with 10,000 other baseball fanatics at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
Sometimes, you’ll hear people call them by their nicknames like the “Bronx Bombers” or the “Evil Empire”.
Yankees Schedule
If everything runs smoothly, baseball season runs from April through September. The Yankees, however, are usually contenders to make the playoffs, so the season can potentially extend until the beginning of October.
So if you want to experience a game, hopefully, you’ll be in New York during the spring or the summer. One game that you should be on the lookout for, but could be quite expensive is when the Yankees play The Boston Red Sox. They arguably have the biggest rivalry in all of sports! Both teams possess die-hard fans and the energy is an atmosphere someone should experience.

New York Yankees Tickets & Best Seats
Cheap New York Yankees tickets start between $10-20, but I do not recommend you buy these. The seats are way up in the upper decks (400s) and it is difficult to make out the ball.
My recommendation is for the seats in the 100s and 200s sections – tickets in these sections start at $30. If you are willing to spend even more – let’s say $100 – you will have a good view of the playing field and the players. We typically sit in or near section 128 and pay approx. $150. These are really great seats in Yankee Stadium though!
If you cannot find a Yankees game during your visit, you may have the option of going to a New York Mets game.

The Yankees play in their beautiful stadium in the Bronx that opened in 2009. The stadium has a capacity for 50,000 spectators. If you go, you can say you have sat in the most expensive ballpark in the world as the price tag for the stadium was an incredible 1.5 billion dollars. This is one of the most historical franchises in the sport.
How to Get to Yankee Stadium
Getting to Yankees games is easy. Take subway lines and and it will directly take you to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. The subway station is called 161 St.-Yankee Stadium. During weekdays, the train takes you there as well.
It can take less than 30 minutes from Midtown Manhattan to get to the stadium, but make sure you leave a little earlier just in case the MTA is delayed. You can’t miss the stop since there will most likely be numerous fans going to the game.
When Should You Arrive at the Game?
The traditional pre-game singing of the national anthem, when everyone gets up from their seats, removes their baseball cap, and places their right hand over their heart, is an emotionally-charged moment that you should not miss. That means that you have to avoid the long wait lines that form just before the start of the game.
I would recommend getting to the stadium 45 to 60 minutes before the opening pitch. That will give you some time to watch Yankee Stadium slowly but surely fill up with fans.

The New York Yankees are a Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise and have won the most World Series (championships) of any team in the league with 27 in all. In light of their storied past, they consistently call themselves “World Champion” and is also part of the most storied rivalry in sports history with the Boston Red Sox.

History
Like many teams, the New York Yankees have experienced high points as well as low ones. The Yankees were founded over 100 years ago in 1901. Their first home was not New York, but Baltimore. Two years after their founding, the team moved to Manhattan where it assumed the name New York Highlanders.
They were soon given the nickname, “Yankees”, a word that refers to a person from the northern states. The name caught on and since 1911, the baseball team has been known as the New York Yankees. The team’s many successes ensured that the sport of baseball grew in popularity and helped make the New York Yankees the most well-known baseball team in the US.
Successes (World Series & American League Pennants)
With the superstar Babe Ruth, the Yankees began their first successful era, which would last for 40 years. Between 1923 and 1964, the Yankees won the American League Pennant 29 times and the World Series 19 times. This was followed by a decade of no significant wins which finally came to an end in the 1970s.
The New York Yankees looked like the team of old and won World Series Titles numbers 20 and 21 as well as American League Titles numbers 30 through 33. From 1990 to the early 2000s, the Yankees added 10 more championships, 4 of those were World Series titles. The last year that the Yankees won both titles was 2009.
They have come close the last several years and should see another big title soon, given the strong support of their fans!
